Keyword is "some". I used to have a reddit addiction so now I avoid it, but out of curiosity I checked it out yesterday and I didn't notice any degradation of quality or missing content. I will bet good money they'll be just fine.
Title is slightly misleading, many subs are now allowing NSFW content but not porn. The goal is just to have the subreddit marked NSFW to kill the ad income for reddit.

So content is still effectively the same and if you are logged in you won't notice much. If you aren't logged in then you'll have the "Are you over 18" wall.
