Ask HN: Someone stole our music and re-uploaded to streaming services
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone else encountered this before. Basically, we recorded a couple of albums in a home studio and released it online on Soundcloud about 10 years ago. It wasn't very popular, but something we enjoyed very much. Fast forward to now and we found out that someone took that music and uploaded to multiple streaming services. What's interesting is that our YouTube videos also have a license on them saying "[Company name] on behalf [Band name]".
Is anyone aware of these things happening? How do you fight it? DMCA claims?
