Why does Venmo.com have no Sign In link on the home page?

I use Venmo once every six months, almost always from my computer. I type Venmo into the address bar and go. There’s no link to sign up anywhere on the home page.

You have to click “Get Started” to go to the Sign Up screen, then click the logo, which instead of taking you back to the home page, takes you to the Sign In page. Atrocious design.

This seems to be happening more and more frequently, where the home page for some product or service is just a gigantic sales page, with no link anywhere to sign in for existing customers. I don’t get what the angle/dark pattern is. Like they’re going to trick me into buying internet service twice? Do they literally not realize existing customers can go to the home page too?

Are they maybe trying to train people not to google "Venmo" to get to venmo.com (like I do) because it costs them money?

I'm not familiar with this site, but I just looked and there is a "sign in" link in the top right on desktop. On mobile it's present in the hamburger menu. So I'm not sure what you're referring to.

However, these things do happen. Your complaint reminds me of how for years, there was no apparent way to download Steam from the Steam website. The only way to get there was via one specific help article. I have no idea how they made that whole website without thinking that they should let people download Steam. But it happened.

This url? https://venmo.com/

What are you seeing? I see one in the top right corner right beside the Get Venmo button.

Why wouldn't you just stay signed in though? This is why I haven't thought about the problem. I am just always signed in.

Here's what I see. https://imgur.com/KuptvpP

Ok I see what's happening. If I zoom out from my normal zoom I see the buttons. For some reason on a 13" mac laptop set to one larger than default text, the buttons are missing. This makes more sense. It's just a bug. You can see it by shrinking your screen.

I don't want to stay signed in when I only use it every six months and it could be used to drain my bank account. I feel more comfortable entering the code.
