Easier said than done. To become silent and refrain from commenting "pseudo-events" is easy; to become silent and refrain from clicking in a hyperreality clickbait title is much harder, if not impossible.
These days we speak not only when we write/comment online but also (and most importantly) when we click. And with every click, we feed the current broken system. Not clicking is hard.
There's a recently released book, "STFU: The Power of Keeping Your Mouth Shut in an Endlessly Noisy World" which focuses on stay silent. I've noticed when I talk less in interactions, I get more out of them. Also, when I do speak, people stop and listen. The downside of the book is I recognize so much more when people are just droning on.
