Ask HN: Should I use Product Hunt now, or later?

I'm creating a free open source website generator, to help developers create beautiful websites, blogs, and user documentation.

I am considering posting on Product Hunt soon to get some real feedback, but I'm not sure if I'm too early or not.

Should I post on Product Hunt as soon as I have an MVP?

Or should I wait until I have a little bit of a following?

I checked it out. I have no idea what this is or what it does. I do recognize that it's the official Tailwind CSS theme though.

So I'd say your first step would be to show some examples and use cases because otherwise it feels very bland.

I’m actually working on developing a content editor panel that goes along with it so I can revamp all of the content.

I started out writing up the content with a basic editor tool within my VSCode IDE, but that quickly became cumbersome when I hit around 20 pages of user docs.

But back to the original question of posting on Product Hunt yet.

I believe from your answer, you are saying that I should wait to improve my content before post on PH, correct?

In my opinion, yes. You should wait and flesh it out a little bit more. I think it will be in your favor, too.

And also, you're targeting developers (at least I figure that's what you're doing) - so expect that people are going to be above the board critical if it feels like the value proposition isn't made clear instantly.
