I was configuring some networking nonsense just the other day and remembered this talk from NSDI. I don't know enough about datacenter networking architectures to comment about the merits of their work and how well it works, but the approach in general seems promising.
I talked with the author at the conference about how their approach contrasts with something like tailscale, which is the almost complete opposite approach to an adjacent problem in networking. Interesting to see how much work has gone into getting around traditional networking architectures.
