If Musk tries to mount a legal crusade against Threads it's going to make him look extremely uncool. Unwinnable unforced error.
Meanwhile, tbd, but looks like Threads is ramping up to be a participator system with the rest of the internet. That has nothing to do with Musk.
It just so happens to contrast heavily against Musk withdrawing Twitter more & more, becoming vastly less & less & less connected as apis close down & reading limitations add up.

I mean, why do you think Facebook _made_ Threads? It's hard to imagine them launching something like this outside the context of "Twitter is in trouble"; it would be dead on arrival.
Twitter is not alone. Almost all major trends right now are on control & exploitation, are on closing off & taking over.
I think Meta made threads because they recognized an existing undercurrent by the alpha geeks that's been active & thriving & growing since 2017. Meta realized they could be relevant if they didn't control it all. They realized the Declaration of Independence of Cyberspace was already nuclear bombed by many nations, in anger, and opted to try find some place to go where the puck was moving.
This looks like a big Twitter related drama in the micro. But this is just the only space afforded by the macro, and everyone else is too stupid, too sluggish, too resistant, or too dumb to start adapting at all rationally. Threads is the only tech titan with even 1/4 a brain, & everyone else is going to get devoured by the child government would-be angry new gods of the world.
Or are people just thinking in relativity? Zuck's been a blinkered hype-dude not an obvious cretin over the last while. That overlaps with the idea that it's forgetfulness, but I think the area under Mark's cretinous curve is less than the area under Elon's.
I respect your insightful approach. I think it’s possible to make that argument, but I’d love to hear why you think Elon’s is even comparable. What’s your insight there?
Oh, we all have our curves that can be compared. Elon directly acts when he makes his own tweets about some BS or other. I don't recall Zuck calling anyone a pedo stiffing people for money, or lying abouth his wealthy upbringing. Early Zuck was a visible cretin too, but that was highly visible as he matured into an adult in full view of us all, while Musk's background and behavior as a white South African occurred out of our sight.
As far as their impact on society through the organizations they control, the effect is indirect and murkier, they've both got some significant area. It's not like Z is a flatline.

Memory is a fascinating thing.

UPDATE: from [https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2023-07-11/matt-l...] today: > Anyway now Musk owns Twitter, after paying $44 billion for it, and he is using it to talk about the size of his penis. These facts are also related.
