What if the contract wasn't with AP, but they made a deal withThe Onion instead? Now I'd pay to subscribe to that! Then they could partner up and sponsor "Nothing Forever" which I'd also pay to see.
> “The arrangement sees OpenAI licensing part of AP’s text archive, while AP will leverage OpenAI’s technology and product expertise,” the two organizations said in a joint statement.
I wonder how much of this article is a hallucination
This makes sense to an MBA. ChatGPT lacks knowledge of current events. The AP has that knowledge. This seems like a way to add knowledge of current events to ChatGPT.
Referencing AP News stories can reduce the credibility of hallucinations because anyone doing their research would see (for example,) that there were AP News stories about 2 guys with similar names, and that ChatGPT got them confused. This helps with defamation lawsuits.
I'm not sure that the OpenAI team will make this work, but in theory, to an MBA, it does make sense.

But then I looked it up and you were serious. AP sells their photojournalism in the form of NFT.
