The difference between you and the dentist, is that the dentist went to school to pull teeth out with pliers, and administers anesthetic.

Last time I went to an NHS dentist, there was literal blood on the floor when I entered the room and a woman was screaming next door. I wasn't sure if I was in a dental clinic or an am-dram performance of Sweeney Todd.
I hope the dentist is also more effective in preventing infections.
Looks back to the glory days of the NHS when dentists were paid per filling...
