This is a huge blow to the rural folks that Starlink doesn’t serve. Many were hoping Viasat’s new satellite would fix their severe over-provisioning issues. This will set them back years.
They will probably change the orbital slot for the other two Viasat-3 satellites to make up for much of the loss (at the expense of coverage other places). And let’s see how the merger with Inmarsat will play out. Inmarsat have several new satellites in the pipeline, but mostly aimed at the mobility market (primarily maritime and aviation).
