people just want security. Wait 5 years and Linux will be what everyone wants. Apple rides a wave of coolness which they will crush when their products become more undesireable due to proprietary nature, un-human GUI, and poor culture.

They have been riding this wave of coolness this whole millennium, and the proprietary nature of their products bothers nobody apart from Linux users. As far as un-human GUI is concerned, I suppose it depends on what sort of human you are. Culture? It's a computer, I don't need culture from a computer!
Ethical awareness is increasing generally. What is to say more won't apply the same level of ethical awareness and judgements when choosing tech in 5 years as they do when choosing food or clothing today?
