Ask HN: Opencollective.com for FOSS Funding? Alternatives?
Hi everyone,
I have a FOSS project that I would like to collect donations for. I looked at ko-fi first, but since they send the donations to PayPal, not only I end up with about half of the donated amount in the end, but everything that was donated is now locked in the account because PayPal thinks that I am a business so they demand that I disclose a lot of private information and write them an essay about what I do as a business (I am not a business) to unlock my account. I gave up on that and opened an opencollective.com account which has been pending approval for about 2 or so weeks now. Is this waiting time normal or should I start looking for another platform again? Does anyone have a recommendation for a donation platform that can pay out directly to a bank account in EUR or GBP and doesn't take a ridiculous amount from the donations?

[ 2.4 ms ] story [ 17.7 ms ] threadObviously there is Patreon but not sure if they also operate the same way and how much of a cut they take.
The other one I found interesting but doesn't really suit our needs was https://salt.bountysource.com/.
