Ask HN: How many repositories per engineer do you have?

In my organisation we have about 20 repositories in Github per engineer. In previous places it was 0.2 or 1:1. What is the ratio at your organization?

At work our (small org) has 10 repositories, so thats 3:1

That said, I see that many of these are archived projects or not in use. We only have 4 active repos really, so: 4:3

Why do you think it is a useful metric, compared to repositories per project or number of active users of a certain repository?
Out of curiosity, has your org ever evaluated a monorepo approach?

Would be interesting to know what issues you faced considering monorepo and what pushed to have multiple repos.

I think it was just natural approach while using Github
