This resonates with me more and more as I age. I like seeing items that have been worn out over time. It's a testament of their sturdiness, their story.

A shot in the dark, but a few years back I saw a Twitter thread of someone who wanted to make a photo book about this concept. With photos of, for example, a lock with scratches from people missing the key hole. Does that ring a bell to anyone? Has the book ever been made?

This exists in some parts of European culture, but it's not named with anything as generic as this.

One example is the "antiquing" of newly produced violins.
