The US Government should absolutely do nothing to insulate crypto buyers from risk and scams. Crypto investment should be completely unregulated. Regulating it would both legitimize and incentivize crypto as an investment vehicle. Crypto provides no benefit to the world; the effect of investing in it is to create wealth from nothing without providing capital for businesses looking to expand their products or services. The less insulated crypto investors are from risk, the sooner that retail investors learn to ignore it in the same way they ignore lottery tickets and slot machines at the gas station.
