It seems to me that this is a plausible next stage of AI interface design. They're currently as crudely integrated into our workflows as teletype terminals or punch cards were into business workflows at the dawn of computing: tolerable only because of the power that lay beyond.
That refined pretty well but ultimately got blown out of the water by desktop skeuomorphism once the underlying platform could support it. Now they're completely integrated via smartphone, but that's getting ahead of ourselves here.
Whoever can push beyond a refinement on "tab complete" or "chat with a minor god" interfaces will win big like Apple and Microsoft did.
