The nice thing with this experiment is that the materials and hardware to do it are not particularly exotic. So confirmation should be pretty straightforward.

According to some of his earlier tweets, getting the red phosphorus is hard, since Sigma-Aldrich won't sell it unless your lab is DEA vetted.
