I'm am (or at least was) a turbo Star Wars fan but I never blamed the actors for crappy characters: that's on the writers and directors. I'm glad that Best was able to pull through and I was glad to see him re-cast as Kelleran Beq. Similarly, Kelly Marie Tran, Daisey Ridley, John Boyega, and everyone else who has gotten hate for the sequel trilogy are victims of Darth Kennedy and the talentless writers who were handcuffed and more or less told what they could write for those movies. Even the best Hollywood writers and producers, after being beaten around will say "Aw, fuck it" and turn in some piece of shit script that the studio will accept.
Well said. I personally don't feel Jar Jar to be "a significant character who changed movies" as Best says, but I'd never agree to the amount of hate poured on the person for playing this role. The "Phantom Edits" and related versions drastically improved the prequels for me because they limited the aspects I didn't like. It's ok to dislike characters in movies. Leaving death threats on answering machines is beyond anything appropriate.
