Rapidly flashing lights! At night! That is without a doubt the singularly most obnoxious signage I've ever seen. I hope the city is successful in getting it removed.
Must be having massive midlife nostalgia of the 90s:
- bring back x.com from his 90s company
- get back into payments like X/PayPal
- logo for his company is dead ringer for the 90s X-window icon
- decided to implement a real world implementation of the ubiquitous <blink> HTML atop their office
In any case I imagine that trying to create a commerce "everything" app like WeChat in the US will cause trouble with Apple and Google, even Epic Games w/ all their Fortnite users couldn't dodge the 30% fee.
It is very important for San Francisco to be tough on such violent crime as putting a thing on your office roof. The dastardly criminals who are in charge of putting things on top of other things must have their conspiracies toppled. We must ferret out this corruption of Bay Area children who should only see roofs naked and un-logoed, as God has made them. I commend the vigilance of The City's enforcers who are making it safer every day for men and women of good will to live lives of peace without signs on roofs to defile their sacred skyline.
It is very important for billionaires to be able to do whatever they want without any repercussions. The dastardly criminals who are in charge of policing public advertisement and light pollution must have their conspiracies toppled. We must ferret out this corruption of Bay Area children who should only see blinding and strobing lights at night, as God has intended. I commend the vigilance of Elon Musks fans who are making it safer every day for men and women of good will to live lives of peace without restful sleep to defile their sacred advertisement space.
There’s an episode of Seinfeld in which Kramer’s apartment is illuminated by a neon sign on a new restaurant opposite. I always thought this was a bit silly; clearly no-one would ever get permission, in a large city, to light up a residential building with an advertising sign, and no-one would do it without planning permission because they would be made to remove it.
Anyway, apparently I was wrong and some people will absolutely try this.
Like with a certain president, we're learning that we're relying a lot more on people's decency not to act in a destructive (and self-destructive) manner and the system of law and regulation is simply not there most of the time. Not in an effective way, for sure.
It's a shock. We thought we live in a land of rule, but the emperor was naked this entire time.
