They had a bug at one point where I would sign in with my google account and it would give me some sort of error. It felt like an edge case of logging in via u/p and later logging in via a google account (usually there needs to be some sort of account merge process there).
It lasted long enough (many months) that I realized they must not have a good system for automated testing of their login process.
I suspect they didn't ditch passwords entirely for end users, but instead ditched them for a simpler implementation of their login flow.
