It would seem to be smart to offer the extraction licenses in conjunction with carbon capture amounting to say 125% of the carbon resulting from the oil. The fact that they didn’t suggest that the CCS part is not financially viable, and not about to be.
Nope. They're not 'oil and gas fields' unless they have been proven to be able to produce oil and/or gas.

So now we've 'captured all that CO2'. Sounds good. Except: 'Where are we going to put those millions of tons of CO2 over the life of that power station?'
