FYI: If you log into Reddit with the Redesign Opted Out, it Opts you in

you might have noticed something a bit disconcerting. If you log into Reddit with the Redesign Opted Out, as I've discovered, the platform will actually opt you back in, automatically. It's not just a technical hiccup or a bug that's slipped under the radar. This, it seems, is a deliberate dark pattern.

For me, it still leaves me in old reddit.
try in incognito mode
If you're signed out, like with incognito mode, then it doesn't know anything about your preferences.
opting out is a saved setting, when logging back in it undoes it.
Seems like opt out is just a cookie instead of being saved server side
that in itself seems like another dark pattern.
Just like the dark pattern that wouldn't tell you that you didn't need an email to sign up. Looks like they require an email now. /barf
Anyone else notice that if you’re logged in via mobile browser you lose the ability to collapse post comments?

Normally I’d just think it’s a bug but I can see Reddit doing scummy stuff like preventing you from viewing anything without a login and then making the experience shit in order to finally drive users to the app.

Using SinkIt to block the login prompt let’s me click into posts and collapse comments just fine.

As recently as this morning I was able to collapse comments on mobile web by just tapping to the right of the commenters name.

edit: tested right now and it still works for me
