GameUpscale predates the generative AI craze. The people there were hacking/finetuning ESRGAN into an img2img network for various purposes.

Kobold also predates the llama craze, where the roleplaying community were building apps around gtp-j finetunes. Koboldcpp is still SOTA, as far as I am concerned.
