Ask HN: LK99 – Real Deal or Hype?

Since the current topic is blowing up here's a second one.

Personally, I'm suspicious of "big new things". LK99 seems too perfectly timed to address a flagging stock market and electrification fatigue. It feels like it's going to be one of those "cold fusion" type things which is always just around the corner for decades.

But I don't understand the tech or the state of the research. Enjoying the conversation here though.
