Nice and balanced article, for a change. Thank you for posting this, it is a nice change from the either over optimistic or categorical rejection fodder and gets the tone just right.
I believe ‘uso’ is also a pun in Japanese (Japanese scientists coined the acronym)
'uso' is 'a lie' in Japanese, it is also an exclamation that can mean 'really?' or 'bullshit!'

I really don't understand that attitude - what is so risky about attempting to make LK99? Surely people who'd attempt this sort of thing would know not to ingest lead, touch hot things, cut themselves on sharp edges.
