Apple is trademarking pictures of apples. Not their usual logo, but pictures of ordinary apples. Only three countries have (to date) protested.
One of those countries was Switzerland: The trademark authority rejected the application for many uses, because apples are too generic. Apple took the matter to court (in the referenced article "the legal case is moving through the Swiss courts"). This process is now finished, and Apple has won. It is currently unclear whether the trademark authority will appeal.
