Satirical content is an useful starting point for discussion of underlying problem. My first reaction to title was actually "but existing camera apps already do that - that is tell you where to move your phone for better picture". I was surprised that article is (probably) about Amazon warehouse working conditions.
I don’t want HN to become cat pics central, but I don’t visit Reddit much any more (killed their mobile web layout so it’s frustrating to use as I don’t use their app) so I appreciate these types of discussions even if they are based on jokes or parody.
Given that we're already living the Idiocracy, I can absolutely see that happening. We're just one or two generations away from people requiring having everything breast-fed to them, served on a silver platter, otherwise they can't function anymore.
This would be a ludicrous quality-of-life improver.
I can see this being marketed as a way to train unruly kids to be model citizens.
We are approaching this with how young students use Chat GPT, in my personal experience, today.
China already has Points (I forget the name) for being a good or bad citizen. Driving accumulation from an ever-present on-body machine like this could reasonably be being considered by the same overt behavior management ideologues who created the China point system.
