I enabled this feature a couple days ago and used it a few times. I don't see it as better than links to wikipedia. I already cringe at the way generative LLMs generate really bland text.
More importantly, the search quality is TERRIBLE. I was doing a search on my name to find some very old posts I made (circa 2000) and here's the generative result for [ konerding c++ string library ucsf] -- the generative result took TEN SECONDS to render and then spat out this (my name is Konerding and I am not a string library):
