Ask HN: Alternative Jira UIs?

6 points by breckenedge ↗ HN
Especially on the “Backlog” view, eventually my M2 Mac starts to just crawl as I’m moving stuff around and trying to plan my team’s next sprint. I’m using Safari. Any workarounds or alternative frontends that are faster? Sadly using Jira was not my choice.

I hate Jira but work insists on it. I found a tool called Unito that syncs Jira with Trello and a bunch of other stuff. That's let me stay on Trello.

Perhaps something like that would work for you?

I’ve interacted with Jira via Emacs in the past, though as an IC not an EM or PM, so the work was light
Yea, I’m an IC filling in right now since our PM was laid off. I’ve never given Emacs a try (8 year Vim user), but I’ll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.
I was a vim user, then neovim, then 3 years ago I switched to Doom Emacs. I was shocked how quickly I was able to become efficient and comfortable with Doom, just a few working days. If you want to hit the ground running, or at least power walking, I suggest Doom or one of the other preconfigured setups like Spacemacs. I’m not positive the experience is applicable to everyone but hopefully it’ll help you
Use Jira's API and automate it using scripts?
There's a sync tool with Linear, which is like Jira but simpler and much much faster.

Work used to use Jira. Then switched to Linear. Now they recently moved back to Jira. I'm thinking about leaving.
Leaving Linear, or leaving your work?
Try Chrome and see if it’s faster there…?
Route everything to email. Use your email to interact instead.
