Obviously the cash isn't free and will be claimed back. The story here is a bank who has made a series of poor tech choices going back decades starting to catch up on itself.

Bank of Ireland has shockingly poor tech infrastructure both internal facing and external facing. A story involving outsourcing to Infosys in India and never having a customer facing app taken seriously.

They were bailed out in 2008 by the Irish government having made poor choices regarding mortgages.

Currently people lining up across the country to withdraw money from ATMs.

Title is an outright lie, withdrawals are debited and counted as an overdraft if you don't have the money.
