I don't particularly like Techdirt, but DuckDuckGo's penchant for inheriting censorship from Bing [1] (and also doing it on its own [2]) is really disappointing.

I think the Tor Browser folks (who obviously disklike censorship) should look into replacing it as the default search engine. The best (free) candidate for now is probably BraveSearch [3].

Going by the number of hits Google displays on the first search results page is really not clever. That number is notoriously unreliable.

When I did the same Google search, Google told me on page 1 there were "104,000 results". And in fact, when I clicked myself through all the results for site:techdirt.com, the list stops at 400. After that there was ... nothing.

Neither "400" nor "94,900" nor "104,000" has anything to do with anything.

You'd expect a site like Techdirt to be a little more clued up about Google's results displays.
