Ask HN: How do you recreate yourself when you are adult?
For example, I have this stimming that basically gave me a big boost for things that involve thinking, but is a big deficit in others, as it requires me to have an environment that is under my control, and when this doesn't happens, my stimming kick back in.
This changed how my brain is wired, due to its early onset (5 years old) and it is a full on addiction at this point, with also withdrawn symptoms (I need to clarify, that this happens only when I am inside a familiar building)
What are your suggestion in this? Is it even possible to recreate yourself?

[ 3.2 ms ] story [ 12.3 ms ] threadRecreating yourself as a mormy usually means making significant changes to your life style, like, changing jobs, moving to a new place, basically recreating a an environment where you can create a new sense of who you are.
I am not sure that relying on thinking to manage stimming would lead to any sort of recreation of self.
Because stimming is an unconscious process it is very difficult to control or suppress.
Maybe speak to your therapist about your ideas/thinking about how you would like to see changes in your life and how you might put that into action
