this display of masterful communication leaves me speechless.
me too. and yet the rhetoricians would find many things to point out in this performance that are "wrong"; things they tell their students not to do.
this song he tells in the end is downright hypnotic.
Not sure about that one: I studied this speech in high school as an example of effective rhetoric.
Then I think you had a good teacher.
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

- Matthew 10:16

It's so much fun to watch the hostile tone of Sen. Pastore transform over a few short minutes. Mr. Rogers was a national treaure. Wish he was still around.
I've seen that video a number of times and it's great. Very compelling. You really feel like he understands how important it is to model good behavior. And I think it not only matters to children but to adults as well. People look at the environment around them to figure out what behaviors are acceptable throughout their entire lives. I think this is especially relevant today given the particularly dark turn that politics have taken since 2016. I think we all look to our leaders to figure out what to do, whether consciously or unconsciously and also whether we like those leaders or not.
You literally see Senator Pastore's heart grow three sizes in the duration of that speech.
One of my favorite videos of all time.
