Been a thing in Moscow for years, even before 2017. Driving near Kremlin can easily send you to some far away place, according to your navigator.

It's also not just GPS, but all GNSS systems, since they share more or less similar frequency range.

Yes, the date I added in the title was the date of the re-publication of the article. Searching;

Shows many times GPS spoofing has been used, the concept and equipment have been around for some years;

So have modern means to circumvent such action.
