What's the point of e-scooters if you cannot park them on sidewalks?

These things are amazing during the summer, you can go from one end to the city to the opposite in much less time by using a combination of roads and sidewalks.

They are much more efficient than e-bikes because they are smaller and take less space on the sidewalk and 2 people can go on them instead of only one person per bike

It's yet one more step towards authoritarianism, and also a reason to be suspiscious of non-ownership models. When people own something they will fight for it, when people are renting they aren't as committed and so authoritarians can come in and curb on something without much repercussion.

I found the rented e-scooter experience in Paris to be a cost-effective, convenient, and quick way to get around the city. I much preferred taking one of them over the subways/bus system or taxis. I did see a lot of irresponsible riders over the years, which is partly why we are here now. My next trip will find me transitioning to e-bikes rather than returning to the old transportation options.
