Xournal++ – Take handwritten notes with ease (xournalpp.github.io)

This looks neat and I'll have to give it a whirl on my surface tablet but I already am curious since it doesn't seem to have any handwriting to text capabilities meaning it's as bad as paper notes - I probably won't be able to search the text.
