Hiring people who happen to be white, or announcing a "whites only" policy on the modern internet? There's quite a difference.
The latter is similar to going into a working class bar full of Red Sox fans late on a Friday night...and loudly announcing that you're a die-hard New York Yankees fan. If you aren't utterly clueless about human nature and baseball fans, you might realize that that probably won't work out so well for you.
