Not all white people hurt black people, not all white people oppressed others, not all "people of color" have a story of oppression that they must live. Is this reductionist view of race really helpful? Is the lesson that these kids ultimately learn going to be the one that the parents sought to instill?
Context: I'm from a minority group that is seen as privileged in America, so I don't know how I fit into this conversation, if at all. My family came from another country that was recently oppressed, but by different white people than the ones who did the oppressing here.
