Gambas Basic – A Linux Basic Flavor in the Spirit of VB (gambas.sourceforge.net)

For those of you who've used this, is thee any real-world use case for this, beyond the nostalgia factor? Like, does it produces smaller executables, fewer dependencies, easier to make GUIs etc (compared to say Python)?
