Ask HN: Why Use an OLAP Database?

It seems Clickhouse and DuckDB are both gaining in popularity. I thought OLAP was used for loading (and pre-joining) data from data warehouses for faster analytical queries. However, I now see Clickhouse as the application DB in open source projects like ChromaDB and PostHog.
