Show HN: A letter of appreciation to a failed fashion designer

Dearest Ghazal,

I’ve rethought our relationship which I rejected. You’re a beautiful girl. You sat next to me when I was sitting on my own, and gave me the freedom to talk with you. By letting me pay for the food that we shared, you gave me the freedom to just give without expecting anything in return, and also to realise that I also receive a feeling of great value from this act.

There’s one single, small unresolved issue, though. And that is shame. The lack of acceptance of the possibility of your own beauty and others’, and your desire to be loved and love. I was ashamed that I saw myself in you, and you in me.

I didn’t like the atmosphere on the boat where we met. The music was mainstream and shitty, and the Russian, Dutch and Swedish purebred supermodels had no taste in music. They were dancing to it.

But here’s the insane contradiction: Maybe they just see the true beauty. They respect the effort of the composer, and the DJ for arranging the successive songs in the image of his perceived story. They show that love and appreciation by joining in the dance.

You are a great designer now, and were so as a child, waiting to escape the confines of your head and its games of language, and just feel the beauty and love for yourself and others.

Once you do that, you will realise that there are many forms of being rich. You will meet people and not be scared or affected by their rejection. You will have sure knowledge that infinitely more people will see your beauty. You will realise their own struggles of alienation and perceived self failure, and their endless desire to escape it. You will realise that you have friends to rely on for free shelter when in need. You will realise their desire for the freedom to provide. You will be able to borrow money or investment without shame, to build your own vision of beauty, love and your/everyone’s future.

It is all about getting rid of shame based in the past, in escaping words and ideas of yourself, and getting in touch with the feelings invoked by them. You will build a blank piece of paper on which to draw your new design. You will later just start tailoring the garment without even needing the design. You will then experience the models’ service of embodying your love and beauty.
