If you buy a game on steam can the developer delete it?
I guess they can delete the steam store page, so you can't redownload it I guess? I assume it wouldn't remove anything already on your computer.
It happened to Rocket League
You can still play the Steam version of Rocket League though. I know someone who still actively plays it.
I do too, the weird thing I just realized is I get updates still too
Yes, but it will still stay in your library so you can download/reinstall it.
Wow! So with this new unity pricing, even if you delete the game the developer can get charged
As much as I don't like the new Unity policy I think this is actually covered by the "No, in this case the developer is not distributing it so we’re not going to invoice the developer" FAQ answer given in response to a question about what happens if your game is install distributed through a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass. For a developer it might be worth getting that exact question answered in writing though.
Yes happens all the time, but you can still play it (as long as it's not online only etc.)
And if you do, does the unity pricing change now cause an install cost?
According to reddit, this is a joke/shitpost.

It's a sad world where people aren't allowed to be sarcastic on social media about industry choices that impact them. Poe's law [1] still applies.

They're allowed to be sarcastic, it's just annoying, especially posting weird NSFW furry-ish fan art alongside it. It's a vibe that I hate and it immediately signals that they're a person I don't want to be around

EDIT: I'm being downvoted. Are you guys really okay with this stuff??

The game is anthropomorphic, quite irreverant and sarcastic. I don't see anything NSFW unless you mean hand holding.

The feed's style fits the devs pretty well. I don't see anything off putting in that kind of way...

I mean, the image literally shows two cartoon characters making out with saliva everywhere. How is that SFW?
I have no idea what image you're talking about, the tweet's avatar is just one of the lambs, there are no screenshots in the tweet, and scrolling through the thread there is no furry art. So the downvotes are probably because the comment doesn't appear related to the content that got posted? If you're browsing their profile and see content you don't like, just stop browsing their profile.

(You're free to hate all the things you hate, but a HN comment thread is almost certainly not the place to vent about that)

It's literally the linked image
I didn't downvote and the gamer/fury world doesn't interest me but I like seeing many different active communities existing online. One day our interests may align until then keep creating culture.
The joke pic of the lamb making out with the angry birds bird?

Yeah of course everyone is okay with it, it’s two cartoon mascots kissing. Are you just being weird about furry stuff for some reason?

This is a good example of Poe's law. In other words they weren't sarcastic. It was a stunt. Pure and simple.
A lot of that culture around gaming and gamers is shut in culture where you get a lot of drama and acerbic conversation because for many that’s their only source of entertainment and agency. Obviously this doesn’t refer to the millions of casual gamers who couldn’t be pissed about what is going on outside of the hour they spend a night gaming.
I agree. Very "Discord voice chat friends group"
I was contemplating buying this game despite the sophomoric humor, but seeing the developer openly mock other developers who might be financially devastated by the Unity policy makes me not want to buy anything from them ever.
Interesting comments. People pointing out the unity ceo sold a large number of shares before the announcement
