Poll: What do you call Twitter now?
Since Musk rebranded it to X, I've never actually seen anyone online use the new name. Indeed, of all the large tech companies I checked, only Microsoft has actually updated the social media links to change the branding here.
So what do you call it? Twitter or X?

[ 2.1 ms ] story [ 104 ms ] threadI think they will as long as it exists.
Millions of companies have branded signs and webpages with the little bird logo. They ain't gonna change that. There are millions of brochures, menus, pamphlets even textbooks with the name and logo.
Musk lost control of Twitter the same way that Google long ago lost control of the verb word "google" as a trademark via common usage.
No doubt that infuriates him, and it will be fun to see what happens when he cannot force the world to say "X" and is defeated by the popular will to just keep saying Twitter.
Not really comparable though- when someone says "google it" they mean "use whatever search engine is configured in your browser to look it up".
Nobody has ever said "I saw it on twitter" when they actually saw it on TikTok.
Twitter or X, Musk owns them both. From a sociopathic satisfaction perspective, I doubt he's losing sleep over the people making iOS shortcuts to bring back the little blue bird icon.
The better thing to call it is 'dead'. No private platform should be as depended-on as Twitter was. Our mistakes will inform the future of social media.
