Ask HN: How does the Unity licensing change affect me?
I get that they've hit the self-destruct button.
But I'm interested to know how this affects me as someone who owns games across multiple platforms - steam/epic/gog/etc, console physical/digital etc.
The policy might affect future updates, but what about stuff I've already paid for?

[ 4.1 ms ] story [ 465 ms ] threadWhat does concern me is the DRM issue. Unity talks about being able to detect re-installs but that implies there is code in the runtime that reports back to Unity. Does this code exist? What else could this code do? Could they deactivate a product remotely? I would assume not but we don't actually know.
At this point I am actually wary of purchasing a product that uses Unity, that is probably not rational but rather a gut feeling.
