Can anyone name one instance where the FTC or EU equilivalent stopped a merger

and the merger never ended up happening? Major companies only. It seems like anytime a merger happens and the agency tried to stop it, there is a lawsuit but it ends up happening anyways.

Check Point's acquisition of Sourcefire.
In the US, FTC does not have exclusive jurisdiction over merger review. It is shared with DoJ. HN commenters seem hyper-focused on FTC's failures while ignoring DoJ's sucesses. Are we allowed to consider the acquisitions and mergers DoJ has blocked.

DoJ blocked Penguin Random House proposed acquisition of Simon and Shuster. Also blocked Aon proposed merger with Willis Towers Watson.
