An exciting read! Of course my initial reaction is to be a bit wary and cynical of success story sites like this and wonder what the site is selling…. But perhaps this is a genuine celebration of entrepreneurship and I’m too jaded by the enshitification or the web to be open to it at first?

For many of us, building and succeeding at a little website like the bank pdf converter is the dream. But what challenges were there? What has worked and what didn’t work at all? Let’s hope Angus joins the chat here and gets a bit more in depth :)

I agree. I have a few technical questions to the interviewed, like:

Are you using OCR or reading the text from the file?

How horrible are pdf from banks? Is there too much out of order content?

My bank adds a template in each page. How do you remove them? Do you have a custom reader for each bank?

How often do you have to tweak the reader?

Any weird case of problem with encoding, or points versus comas, or thousand separators?
