Ask HN: Is HN Feature Frozen?

The recent changes on Twitter/X have led me to wonder: is HN in its final form? Why doesn't the team seem to ever make changes?

HN released an official API last year which is great. Is the expectation that all innovation should happen via API clients now?

I appreciate the stability and minimalism too.

Personally I'd like to have some controls for the frontpage algorithm. For example, I check HN pretty infrequently, so I'd prefer to see older stuff (currently I use Algolia for this here: https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=pastMonth). I'd also like to see controversial.

It's interesting that you'd use Twitter/X's updates as an example to follow. It seems like Elon's doing an effective job at running Twitter straight into the ground.
