LOL the curse of alcohol once again.. gee, maybe "drinking alone every day" causes illness? think so ? A good portion of the world does not do this.. for good reasons
We all need something to do given we do not have a purpose in this world, except for bearing children maybe. People love to philosophise about the meaning of life and find all ways to be sad. There isn't - keep yourselves busy, anything!
I'm surprised at how few people have read "Candide" by Voltaire. It came to the same conclusion and was written when the US were still the colonies. I'm sure there were earlier works that would have said much the same thing, but it was so playful in its takedown of organized religion that the jokes still land centuries later.
Philosophizing and trying to figure things out is "keeping busy." Philosophy, when coupled with writing and teaching, is a very active pursuit. It has nothing to do with depression and depends on soberness of the mind and cultivation of perception.
honestly, this sounds like something a depressed person would say. Get some sleep, exercise, outside time, good food, and social contact. It really helps.
What if you have ADHD and your doctor insists that you "focus on emotional symptoms first"? However, the condition makes it very hard to do anything, which can lead to a spiral of shame and depression.
Is it depression not to want to do something you will definitely fail at, due to disability. I don't think this is easy of anyone to answer. What if you're always procrastinating, then coming to the realization that you failed?

[ 3.5 ms ] story [ 164 ms ] threadThe first sentence is plainly wrong. All its three statements/implications. ("sounds like"; the depression diagnosis; "depressed person would say")
The second and third sentence are correct.
