Ask HN: Would the Internet change if Bandwidth was Infinite?

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how the internet is changing. It feels like everything online is being put into boxes owned by big companies. And that is made possible by increasing speed access to the internet. I realized I’m keeping way less stuff on my computer nowadays. It’s like our computers are turning into just screens where we access stuff owned by others.

This change is even more noticeable with AI. It’s starting to worry me—I’m scared we might lose the Cool, open side of the Internet, and end up back with stuff like pay-per-view and expensive cable TV.

The prices depend on the costs that a downloaded/uploaded petabyte would cost on the exchanges. Gamestreaming would rise again since a nessesary amount of people have now access to the required bandwith, if the cost leaves people with enough money that they don't have to worry.

For many their local or state network infrastructure bottle neck would still exist for a couple of decades assuming pre existing technology.

Site designers would of course assume it is totally ok to start using 100 meg API all the time to load up a mere page.

In the end I would guess the advertising to content ration would drastically change ... if one is a mere consumer, then for the worse.
