Ask HN: How to prevent Safari from opening Mail on Cmd-I?
MacOS Safari has an incredibly annoying bug that opens the MacOS Mail app when you hit Cmd-I —— sometimes. Sometimes Cmd-I invokes Italic formatting, but sometimes it opens Mail. In older versions of MacOS, there was a menu item for Email This Page / Email Link To This Page, but in Ventura, those menu items are gone from Safari, but the Cmd-I shortcut STILL opens Mail.app
Barf. I never use Mail app and never want it to open. I bet this old shortcut it buried somewhere deep in MacOS/Safari that can't be overridden by normal methods... but I'm sure someone can figure out how to disable it.
Please?
Before you reply, please know that the possible solutions that involve creating an overriding Cmd-I keyboard shortcut as suggested in this discussion https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/108060/how-to-prevent-command-i-command-shift-i-from-opening-mac-mail-when-in-browser DO NOT WORK, so please don't just refer to that.

Use https://github.com/Lord-Kamina/SwiftDefaultApps to changing your default mail app to Safari.
Agreed, not quite perfect but at least it doesn't open Mail.
thank you! I've been looking for a solution for this for YEARS.
